Savoy - Opening Week

We find ourselves at the end of our first week at the Savoy with rather a jolt; it’s hard to decide whether it went quickly or slowly.
In just a couple of days I was impressing the musicians with my ability to navigate the rabbit warren of identical corridors that run for what must be miles around the hotel, and my capacity to learn the names of the hundreds of Savoy employees is astonishing even me!
With every step we encounter a new logistical hurdle; as can be imagined, security is tight, and Private Drama have upwards of 40 people coming in and out of the hotel. Enforced by a serious lack of reception once inside the building (how did we manage before mobile phones?) I have developed nicely the art of being in many places at once, and always at the right time!
The learning curve is steep, and at times slippery, but with every new problem comes a new solution (even if just a theoretical one!), and the hardcore multitasking all becomes worth it as soon as the first notes of that evening’s cabaret are sung (on time).
