The Final Countdown
The Private Drama Team met with The Savoy's lovely Banqueting and Events team yesterday as the big count down to the opening draws to an exciting end. Even with the Hotel still a flurry of activity, plastic sheeting protecting the lush carpets, smells of new varnish throughout, it is certainly a magnificent spectacle as soon as you enter through the doors, welcomed by keen smiling staff.
As we oohed and aahed at the decadent gold furnishings, ornate fabrics and gleaming wood panels (who knew wood could be so shiny?) in the reception, we were taken on a tour of the Hotel, through the airy Thames Foyer with it's dramatic glass dome, and then down to the stunning Ballroom.
For me however, the piste de résistance was the opulent Beaufort Bar revealed behind mirrored sliding doors through the Thames Foyer. The combination of dramatic black and gold decor is quite something, it oozes old school glamour; I will definitely be making a visit with the team for one of their cocktails soon, in true sophisticated Marylyn Monroe style, to listen to the fantastic cabaret!!
